Legislative Update - Co-Governing Agreement

Friday, February 7, 2025

Dear Neighbors,

I'm excited to announce that House DFL and Republican leadership reached an agreement to co-govern over the next two years. This follows weeks of difficult negotiations where our primary sticking point was the Republican’s unwillingness to seat fairly elected Rep. Brad Tabke. Thankfully they conceded this point, and we could come to a reasonable agreement. I’m excited to get to work with my colleagues across the aisle–the only way we can govern effectively is to govern together!

The agreement says that Republicans will govern as a majority until we return to a 67-67 tie, which we expect following the March 11th special election in Roseville. At that point, all committees will have equal representation from both parties with co-chairs leading. In fact, the agreement is largely what we proposed four weeks ago. I see it as a fair deal that not only protects the will of the voters and defends our State Constitution but also preserves my ability to advocate effectively for our district.

I want to acknowledge the community leaders, advocates, and constituents who met with me to share their priorities while I worked outside of the Capitol. Your input directly shapes my legislative agenda, and I will continue to advance our shared values here at the House. Thank you all for your support, I can’t wait to continue to represent you at the Capitol!

It’s good to be back!!

State and Local Government Meeting - Fraud Reduction

  • This week I met with the House DFL State and Local Government Team to discuss my bill to reduce fraud by establishing an Office of the Inspector General.
  • This is a common sense bill that would go a long way towards making your tax dollars go further.
  • Now that the House is duly organized, I look forward to presenting this before committee.

  • Highlights included a briefing from members of AFSCME Local 404, strategizing with the MN Retailers on my bill to help Main Street businesses, and meeting with constituents about the Minnesota Building Families Act and Cancer Action Day.
  • If you have a topic or issue you are passionate about and think I could help with, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’m always happy to make room in my busy schedule for a constituent.
