Legislative Update - Bipartisan Bills

Friday, March 28, 2025

Dear Neighbors,

Session has entered a more regular, if frenzied, routine. Here’s an update on this week:

Manufactured Housing Bill of Rights - The World Taking Notice

  • As you may recall, we made a powerful statement last week when dozens of manufactured home community residents and advocates joined me to introduce the Manufactured Home Park Resident Bill of Rights.
  • It's been fantastic to see all the media coverage of our people-powered movement to protect our neighbors from predatory practices by passing the Manufactured Home Park Resident Bill of Rights!
  • Up next: the bill is scheduled to be heard in the Housing Committee next Tuesday!

Bills Moving Forward - With Bipartisan Support!

  • Bipartisanship was in full swing this week when I co-presented two of my bills with Republican co-authors!
  • The first was with Rep. Witte. We presented my bill to provide funding for the World Junior Hockey Championships coming to Minnesota in December. The National Sports Center in Blaine will be one of the training sites!
  • The second was with Rep. Swedzinksi. Our bills would help reduce property taxes by making it easier for cities, counties, and school districts to get a sales tax exemption on construction materials for local building projects like schools and fire stations!

Upcoming Town Hall - Last Reminder!

  • I am hosting a town hall on Tuesday, April 1, at 7 pm, at the Mary Ann Young Center with fellow Anoka County legislator, Rep. Kari Rehrauer.
  • I encourage you to come by to learn about the 2025 session and share your thoughts.
  • You can sign up for the town hall and presubmit questions here.
