Minnesota Queer Legislators Caucus Announces 2025-26 Leadership
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Queer Legislators Caucus met and elected new leadership for the 2025-26 legislative biennium. The caucus elected Representative Brion Curran (DFL—White Bear Lake) as Chair and Senator Clare Oumou Verbeten (DFL—Saint Paul) as Vice Chair.
The Minnesota Queer Legislators Caucus issued the following statement following the leadership election and looking ahead to the 2025 legislative session:
“As we look ahead to a new legislative session, the Queer Caucus echoes the message sent to us by the voters to focus on building an economy that works for everyone, passing a responsible budget to keep our government functioning, and a bonding bill that ensures every region of the state receives the resources necessary to support its residents. We hope the entire legislative body shares these goals and that we can come together to accomplish the goals set before us. We know this task can be accomplished if every legislator is committed to a respectful and inclusive environment at the State Capitol.
“Our caucus will also remain steadfast in our commitment to human rights and maintaining the dignity of all people in our state. We will continue to defend the progress made in the past two years from those who seek to take us backward. As national politicians continue to attack and divide us based on our differences, our caucus will not abandon our fight to keep Minnesota an inclusive and welcoming state for everyone.”
The Queer Caucus is composed of members of the Minnesota State House and Senate who identify as 2SLGBTQIA+. The Queer Caucus works to advance and protect the rights of the whole Queer community, as well as the rights of our intersecting communities.
