St. Paul, MN– State Representative Andrew Myers, R-Tonka Bay, introduced legislation today that fully funds Minnesota’s special education cross-subsidy and provides school districts across Minnesota with the flexibility and opportunities they need to give all students the educational experience they deserve.
“Our communities value the importance of a good education and the critical role it plays in preparing students for a bright and successful future,” said Myers. “This bill will not only put dollars directly into classrooms, but it will also help recruit and retain teachers, paraprofessionals, and more to make sure students are getting a world-class education that will help improve literacy rates and test scores in Minnesota.”
Addressing the special education cross-subsidy has been a top priority for school districts in the area and around Minnesota.
Myers continued, “Thank you to the countless superintendents, principals, school board members, teachers, staff, and parents from the Wayzata, Minnetonka, Waconia, Westonka, and Orono School Districts that have worked with me on this bill. Listening and learning from you and your experiences helps me craft policies at the state level that will benefit all students. By working together, we can make sure that Minnesota schools are the strongest in the nation.”
