Letter to the Editor

State Representative Andrew Myers: Dedicated to Listening, Learning, and Working Together

In a political climate that continues to divide us, I am proud to serve as co-chair of the Minnesota House Suburban Solutions Caucus—a group of legislators committed to prioritizing people over politics. Over the past several years, I have knocked on over 20,000 doors and hosted more than 25 town halls, all focused on listening, learning, and amplifying the voices of families, businesses, educators, law enforcement, seniors, and the next generation.

My deep ties to the community began with my service at the Westonka Food Shelf where I have volunteered for nearly a decade and currently serve as a board member. I have also served as a parks chair, city council member, and planning chair, in which I focused on creating practical and balanced solutions to address our shared priorities within our communities.

During my first term as a state representative, I worked to create reasonable solutions to the priorities the people of our community shared with me—education, community safety, affordability, childcare, and clean water. This includes legislation like the “Better Together Education Plan,” the “365 Public Safety Initiative,” the “Dollars & Sense Initiative,” and “Building Blocks of Learning.” I was also proud to help pass the “Keep It Clean” bill and secure $10.3 million for clean water in Mound.

With a nearly evenly divided Minnesota House, my colleagues in the Suburban Solutions Caucus and I are optimistic about the opportunity to deliver reasonable, long-lasting solutions that bring people together by focusing on the priorities of all Minnesotans.

Extreme ideologies should never dictate the policies we enact. I will continue to listen, learn, and work together with my constituents and colleagues to create meaningful solutions. Please feel free to reach out to me directly at 612-615-8444, rep.andrew.myers@house.mn.gov, or join me at one of my upcoming town halls.

Sincerely,

Andrew Myers

State Representative
