Rep. Lucy Rehm awarded Towards Zero Deaths 2023 Distinguished Public Leadership Award
St. Paul, Minn – On November 19, Representative Lucy Rehm (DFL–Chanhassen) was awarded the 2023 Distinguished Public Leadership Award from Towards Zero Deaths (TZD), an organization dedicated to reducing traffic injuries and fatalities through public awareness campaigns and legislative action.
Representative Rehm received the award at the annual statewide TZD conference in Rochester. Rehm, alongside three other state legislators, were recognized for their work to update Minnesota’s traffic safety laws.
“It was an honor to receive the 2023 Distinguished Public Leadership Award and attend the 20th annual statewide conference for traffic safety stakeholders!” said Rep. Rehm. “I was proud to help pass legislation this year that provides grants to local law enforcement for speed, seat belt, distraction and impairment activities, funding for improving high-risk roadways and intersections, and creating the Advisory Council for Traffic Safety. I am looking forward to continuing this important work next session to stop traffic fatalities and serious injuries.”
Last session, the legislature passed legislation that included $12 million for rural high-risk roadways; $2 million for grants to local law enforcement for speed, seat belt, distraction and impairment activities; $10 million to MnDOT targeted toward improving high-risk roadways and intersections; and $4 million for creating the Advisory Council for Traffic Safety.
