November Legislative Update

Rehm Banner

Dear Neighbors,

I hope this email finds you well, and that you are enjoying your fall as we head into the holiday season. The 2024 legislative session is just around the corner, set to begin in early February. I’ve been gathering input and suggestions from our communities about the future path of our state.

I’m proud of the work we’ve done this year to move our state forward, and am excited to continue that work next year. I’d be so appreciative if you have a few minutes to fill out this short Minnesota Values Project survey; it helps me lift up our priorities and bring them to St. Paul.

Towards Zero Deaths Conference

Earlier this month I was honored to receive the 2023 Distinguished Public Leadership Award along with my colleagues Rep. Frank Hornstein, Sen. Scott Dibble and Sen. Jim Carlson at the 20th annual Towards Zero Deaths Conference!

Toward Zero Deaths Conference

Together we authored and passed legislation this year that included $12 million for rural high-risk roadways; $2 million for grants to local law enforcement for speed, seat belt, distraction and impairment activities; $10 million for MnDOT to improve high-risk roadways and intersections; and $4 million for the new Advisory Council for Traffic Safety. I am always committed to working to stop traffic fatalities and serious injuries. You can read the full release here.

401 Education Center Tour

I also was excited to tour the 401 Education Center in Chaska and learn more about intermediate districts and the vital role they play in our community. 401 Education Center provides many important alternative education services to people in the west Metro area.

I met with members of our administrative team and toured Career and Technical Education classrooms, SouthWest Metro High School and several special education programs. Thank you for having me and I look forward to working together in the future!

Camp Fire Minnesota

I also wanted to highlight the House Capital Investment Committee’s recent visit to Camp Fire Minnesota! Camp Fire is a youth development nonprofit in our district that provides great outdoor and environmental camps, educational trips, and after-school programs.

I’ve committed to carrying Camp Fire’s request for funding in the 2024 Capital Investment bill and look forward to working with them and members of the committee next year!
