SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Representative Lucy Rehm (DFL-Chanhassen) and the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced $3.7 million in state funding to construct a new roundabout to improve safety and mobility at the Highway 5/County Road 11 intersection in Victoria. The Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) estimates that this project will produce 45–100 new jobs within the next five years.
“Carver County residents deserve to be safe on the road, especially when they’re moving around in our area,” said Rep. Rehm. “This new roundabout in Victoria will improve access to County Road 11 from Highway 5, and most importantly improve safety in the region. I’m excited to see how this project comes together with the Minnesota Departments of Transportation, Health, and Public Safety in collaboration with the work I’ve dedicated to the Toward Zero Deaths program.”
$3.2 million of the funding for this project comes from the state’s competitive Transportation Economic Development (TED) program. The program targets transportation infrastructure projects that create economic development opportunities and jobs through a collaboration between MnDOT, the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED), and local government and private sector partners.
$500,000 of the funding is delivered from the Transportation Economic Development Infrastructure Program (TEDI), a competitive grant program available to communities for road and public infrastructure projects that create jobs and support economic development. This funding was included in the 2023 Bonding Bill Rep. Rehm supported.
