Some Wins Amongst Chaotic End to the Legislative Session Saint Paul, MN — As the smoke settles on last night's chaotic end to the legislative session Representative Natalie Zeleznikar (R – Fredenberg Township) and her GOP colleagues are evaluating how this could have ended better, but also where some wins have happened for the people of Minnesota. These include provisions like 26 million in EMS funding, EMT and RN education, and workforce development in northern Minnesota. “I am disappointed in the route the democrat majority took to finish this legislative session.” Said Rep. Zeleznikar. “Cutting off debate and silencing the voice of nearly half of Minnesotans casts a dark shadow on some of the good work we were able to accomplish this session. I pray the relationships can be mended after this action so we can continue the good work for Minnesota.” While much of the agenda was tacked onto the tax bill by the democrat trifecta to complete their work before the midnight deadline some previous bills did include important legislative changes for the state. “Workforce development is of huge importance to our part of the state. We’ve seen shortages in many industries including healthcare that I am deeply familiar with from my time working in care facilities. I am so proud of my provisions in the Health and Human Services Bill to allow a support person to present during medical procedures. So many were left suffering alone during the pandemic and this provision ensures that we never have to endure that again.” ### |
