Rep. Zeleznikar Introduces Legislation Establishing Workforce Grant for Center for Nursing Equity and ExcellenceSaint Paul, MN — Representative Natalie Zeleznikar (R - Fredenberg Township) introduced HF 4998 a workforce grant to establish a Center for Nursing Equity and Excellence. This is established within the University of Minnesota in collaboration with Minnesota State Colleges and Universities to address nursing workforce needs including equity, recruitment, retention, and utilization of nursing workforce resource that are within the current scope of the practice of nurses. This center of excellence will work with all 212 nursing education programs and 26 universities as well as countless health systems and organizations. Another exciting opportunity is working with 42 other states to share knowledge and experiences. "MN needs 35,000 new LPN’s and 35,000 new RN’s and currently the state is graduating a small fraction." Said Rep. Zeleznikar.
