Newly elected Rep. Gordon arrives at Capitol ready to work in 2025 session

Wednesday, January 15, 2025

ST. PAUL – Jimmy Gordon officially is a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives after taking the oath of office Tuesday at the Capitol to become a member of the 94th Legislature.

Gordon, a Republican from Isanti, was elected to the House in November and fills the District 28A seat, including Cambridge, Isanti and North Branch. He has been selected to serve three House committees for the new biennium: Human Services, Education and Elections/Government Operations.

“Performing the oath of office to become an official member of the Minnesota House of Representatives is an incredible honor and I am beyond grateful to all the people who worked so hard to help make it happen,” Gordon said. “That said, it’s time to get to work in St. Paul so we can get our state back on track after Democrats spent the last two years passing reckless spending bills, unnecessary tax increases and radical policies. We face some big challenges and I’m looking forward to digging in and making sure the people of our area have a strong voice in St. Paul.”

Gordon said House Republicans recently shared a list of priorities of Minnesotans for the 2025 legislative session. They include:

  • Stop the Fraud
  • Make Minnesota Affordable
  • Make Minnesota Safe
  • Raise Standards, Reduce Mandates
  • Minnesota Tax Dollars for Minnesotans
  • Build for the Future

Gordon is a local business owner, firefighter and former mayor of Isanti. He and his wife, Megan, have four children. They attend church at North Isanti Baptist and, in his free time, Gordon enjoys hunting, fishing and playing his guitar.

Gordon said District 28A residents can call his legislative office at (651) 296-4346 or email rep.jimmy.gordon@house.mn.gov to get in touch. He also provides periodic email updates and citizens can sign up to receive them at his official state website: www.house.mn/28a.
