Dear Neighbor,
Greetings from the Capitol, where I have been sworn into office as the new State Representative for District 16A.
It’s great to be at the Capitol, getting down to business and concentrating on the issues that are most important to the people I represent. That is the approach I’m taking, and it will help keep me centered on our priorities. Performing the oath of office is a humbling experience I’ll always remember and it’s an honor to serve the people of District 16A.
That said, it’s very unfortunate House Democrats staged a boycott and have not yet come to work. I hope they show up soon and join Republicans by doing the work citizens elected us to do instead of staying home and collecting a paycheck. We need to hit the ground running this session because there is a lot of work to do and no time to waste.
In the meantime, House Republicans have gotten the session up and running. We elected Rep. Lisa Demuth of Cold Spring as House Speaker and launched committees. I am honored to have been selected to serve two House committees for the new biennium, related to commerce and health.
On a broader scale, House Republicans recently shared a list of our statewide priorities for the 2025 legislative session. They include:
These are some of the issues Minnesotans care about most, and there should be bipartisan support for solutions. Stay tuned for more on these subjects throughout the session.

Watch for more from the House soon. Until then, your correspondence is welcome and helps me do my best to represent the best interests of the people in District 16A. Please let me know if there’s anything I can do to help because my door is always open for the people I represent.
Sincerely,
Scott
