With the possible exception of a session’s final few days, the week before the third committee deadline is about as hectic as things get in the House.
That deadline, by when committees must act favorably on major appropriation and finance bills, arrives at 5 p.m. Tuesday, so it’s probably a good thing House members and staff will have a nearly week-long break from official business.
Everyone is ready for some well-deserved rest after nearly 20 omnibus budget bills were approved by their committees of origin this week. The focus will now shift to floor debates and conference committees.
Have a good weekend and here’s a look back at what you may have missed over the past week.
