The law is the law, right? And it applies to everyone equally, right?
Except that both federal and state laws can vary depending upon one’s age.
Minnesota law prohibits minors (those under age 18) from doing certain things, such as playing the Minnesota Lottery. For other activities, the cutoff age is 21 years, such as possessing and consuming alcohol and tobacco.
But what about the minimum legal age to operate a motorized foot scooter? Or how old must you be to get your, ahem, genitals pierced?

Body art (tattoos, piercings)
1. State statute on Body Art covers both tattooing and body piercings. Minors can get a tattoo under which of the following conditions:

Operating lawn care equipment

Blood donation
10. The minimum age to legally donate blood is:
Answer: D; 16, with parent or guardian written permission. (Minn. Stat. § 145.41)
Big game hunting
11. What is the youngest age a person can be to hunt big game (deer, moose, elk, bear, antelope, and caribou) in Minnesota?
Answer: A; 10, provided the minor is a resident, gets a license, and is under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian where the parent or guardian is within immediate reach during the hunt. (Minn. Stat. § 97A.451, subd. 4(b),(c))
Firearm possession
12. What is the youngest age a person can legally possess a firearm?
Answer: C; 14 years, if a firearms safety certificate is obtained from the DNR. (Minn. Stat. § 97B.021)
Fishing licenses
13. State residents under what age are not required to get a fishing license?
Answer: C; 16 years. (Minn. Stat. § 97A.451, subd. 2) By the way, a state resident age 90 years or older may take fish without a license.
Tear gas possession
14. With written permission of a parent or guardian, a minor may possess tear gas or tear gas compounds beginning at what age?
Answer, B; 16. (Minn. Stat. § 624.731 subd. 3) The same statute provides that no person under the age of 18 may possess or use an electronic incapacitation device (i.e., taser, or “stun gun”).
Hold elective office

There are two different minimum ages: one for governor and lieutenant governor, and another for the Legislature and all other elected offices.
