Week in Review: Feb. 3-7

The House is back in action.

After weeks of stalemate amid a DFL boycott to deny a quorum, Republican and DFL leaders reached an agreement outlining how the House will operate with or without a tie.

Among items in the agreement are naming Rep. Lisa Demuth (R-Cold Spring) as House speaker and seating Rep. Brad Tabke (DFL-Shakopee) after disagreement over his win in District 54A.

The full House took their seats for an organizational session Thursday, with Demuth addressing the body for the first time as speaker after prevailing over House DFL Leader Melissa Hortman (DFL-Brooklyn Park) in a 67-65 party-line vote.
