Education policy bill advances to House Floor

The omnibus education policy bill received its first passing grade.

In a quick and uneventful meeting, the House Education Policy Committee approved it Wednesday with little discussion. Sponsored by Rep. Sydney Jordan (DFL-Mpls), the amended HF1306 now heads to the House Floor.

Among the bill’s provisions are more post-secondary eligibility options for charter school students, permanently adding a substitute teacher pilot program, making the short-call emergency substitute teacher pilot program permanent, an expansion of allowable epinephrine delivery systems and modifications related to the Office of the Inspector General.

A clarifying oral amendment offered by Rep. Peggy Bennett (R-Albert Lea) was approved on a voice vote.
