Minneapolis House Delegation statement regarding agreement to end park workers’ strike

Saturday, July 27, 2024

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The Minneapolis Legislative Delegation in the Minnesota House of Representatives released the following joint statement on the agreement reached by members of LIUNA Local 363 and the Minneapolis Park & Recreation Board (MPRB):

“We are encouraged to see that the dedicated members of LIUNA Local 363 have secured an agreement with the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board. Every day, these workers make our Minneapolis parks world-class spaces and amenities for our community. For the last three weeks, we’ve stood in solidarity with these workers and their right to strike as they fought for fair wages and fair treatment at the bargaining table. This agreement reflects their persistence and sacrifice in pursuit of a fair contract.

“At the Legislature, we have worked hard to strengthen the power of workers on the job and in our economy. We are encouraged that the MPRB and LIUNA 363 reached an agreement that respects these workers and their value to the MPRB and to our communities. We are hopeful that this agreement will allow workers and the MPRB to get back to the work of making our parks systems the best in the world.”

Members of the Minneapolis Delegation include Rep. Michael Howard (51A), Rep. Fue Lee (59A), Rep. Esther Agbaje (59B), Rep. Sydney Jordan (60A), Rep. Mohamud Noor (60B), Rep. Frank Hornstein (61A), Rep. Jamie Long (61B), Rep. Aisha Gomez (62A), Rep. Hodan Hassan (62B), Rep. Samantha Sencer-Mura (63A), and Rep. Emma Greenman (63B).
