Saint Paul, Minn. – Today, the House DFL and Senate DFL announced a series of town hall meetings during the legislative break to talk with Minnesotans about how the Trump administration is hurting our state.
DFL legislators are working to pass a responsible state budget, protect accomplishments like Paid Leave and universal school meals, and defend Minnesota against the chaos and cuts of the Trump administration. Whether it’s dismantling public education, firing thousands of federal workers without warning, imposing tariffs that drive up the cost of living and doing business, or gutting Medicaid to give tax breaks to billionaires, the Trump administration is making life harder for Minnesotans. The uncertainty and chaos of federal actions and cuts undermine the Legislature’s ability to build our state budget and move Minnesota forward.
“Every day, it becomes more apparent that Donald Trump and his billionaire friends are inflicting harm on our families, schools, communities, and fundamental rights,” said Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman. “These town hall meetings will bring Minnesotans of all backgrounds together to stand up for our shared values and sound the alarm on how federal policies are hurting people across our state, from Moorhead to Minneapolis.”
“Minnesotans are struggling right now, and they are feeling the pain from the harmful and chaotic actions coming from Washington, D.C.,” said Senate Majority Leader Erin Murphy. “We know it is hurting our economy and making it harder for us to balance the state budget. People are losing their jobs, farmers are worried about losing markets, and every family is being hit hard as their costs keep rising. Minnesotans want a voice in this uncertain time, and we will travel the state, listen to them, and give them that voice.”
