Representative Jim Davnie, Chair of the Division, called the first meeting to order at 10:03 A.M. on, January 26, 2007, in Room 5 of the State Office Building.
The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Representative Davnie called the meeting to order at 10:03 A.M. A quorum was present.
HF 131 (Hilstrom), as introduced, relating to consumer protection; restricting the use of Social Security numbers.
Representative Benson moved approval of HF 131 and recommended to pass and sent to the committee on Commerce and Labor.

Mark Ireland, Assistant Attorney General, MN Attorney General's Office and Benjamin Wogsland, Assistant Director of Communications and Research MN Attorney General's Office testified on HF 131.
Mark Kulda, Insurance Federation of Minnesota and Bob Tennessen, Gray Plant Mooty, Mooty & Bennett Representing Reed Elsevier Inc. also testified on the bill. Mr. Tennessen gave division members a handout of his testimony. See attachment.

Representative Howes moved an oral amendment to delete from the amendment
A07-0005, from line 1.17 , and such information is encrypted. THE ORAL AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED.
Representative Benson, moved that HF 131 as amended be recommended to pass and sent to the committee on Commerce and Labor.
