MINUTES

Representative Mariani, Chair of Committee on Education Policy, called the meeting to order at 8:39 A.M. on March 8, 2013 in the Basement Hearing Room of the State Office Building.

The Committee Legislative Assistant noted the roll.

Rep. Mariani moved that H.F. 716 be laid over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

Rep. Selcer presented H.F. 716 (Selcer); Teacher licensure testing requirements clarified.

The following people offered testimony on H.F. 716:

Karren Balmer, MN Board of Teaching

Chair Mariani laid this bill over for possible inclusion in an omnibus bill.

The meeting was recessed at 9:37 A.M.

Rep. Yarusso moved that H.F. 1257 be passed and referred to the Committee on Government Operations

Rep. Yarusso presented H.F. 1257 (Yarusso); Teacher candidates and licensure basic skills requirements clarified, and advisory task force established

Rep. Yarusso moved to amend H.F. 1257, (see attached amendment H1257A1). THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED

Rep. Brynaert moved to amend H.F. 1337 (see attached amendment H1137A1)

Rep. Brynaert incorporated the following oral amendment:

Page 7 Line 35, delete "subjects and of cores course content"

The committee voted on the amendment, as amended. THE MOTION PREVAILED. THE AMENDMENT WAS ADOPTED

Rep. Urdahl moved to amend H.F. 1337

Rep. Urdaul moved to incorporate an oral amendment as follows:

Page 1, Line 2, Delete "delete", insert "after"

Rep. S. Erickson moved to amend H.F. 1257, as amended (see attached amendment H1257DE1) THE MOTION DID NOT PREVAIL. THE AMENDMENT WAS NOT ADOPTED

Rep. Yarusso moved to orally amend H.F. 1257, as amended as follows:

Page 1, line 1.17, strike "provide", insert "make available upon request"
Page 1, line 1.20, strike "provide", insert "make available"
Page 1, line 1.22, delete "must provide", insert "may make available upon request"
