WORKFORCE, LABOR, AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FINANCE AND POLICY COMMITTEE

MINUTES

Representative Baker, Chair of the Workforce, Labor and Economic Development Finance and Policy Committee, called the meeting to order at 8:16AM on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, in the G3 Room of the Capitol.

Representative Mekeland moved the minutes for Tuesday February 25th, 2025, to be approved. THE MOTION PREVAILED.

A Quorum was present.

The committee heard testimony and a presentation by the Intergovernmental Misclassification Enforcement and Education Partnership. Commission Nicole Blissenbach testified as well as Evan Rowe, Assistant Commissioner of DEED.

Vice Chair Mekeland took the gavel for the committee.

The committee heard testimony from bill author, Chairman Dave Baker, regarding H.F. 961, hospitality education and grant funding provided.

Chairman Baker moved the delete-all amendment 1; THE MOTION PREVAILED.

Testifiers also included: Madolyn Anderson, Canterbury Park, Former Shakopee Prostart Student, Josh Brown, Prostart Member, Jaelynn Mogren, Elk River Prostart Student, Angie Whitcomb, President and CEO, Hospitality Minnesota.


H.F. 961, as amended, was laid over for future consideration.

Chairman Baker resumed the gavel.

The committee heard a presentation from Lauren Bennett McGinty, Executive Director of Explore Minnesota.

The committee heard a presentation from Johnny Villarreal, Commissioner from the Bureau of Mediation Services.

The meeting was adjourned at 10:01 AM
