Capital Investments Committee Set to Meet Tomorrow

St. Paul, MN – Representative Mary Franson announces the first meeting of the Capital Investments committee. She has been assigned as the Chair of this committee and looks forward to setting priorities for the session. Rep. Franson and her GOP counterparts will attend the meeting tomorrow. DFL members of the committee are invited but not expected to attend, in accordance with their boycott.

One of the major responsibilities of the Capital Investments committee is to propose bonding within the state, to fund infrastructure and other necessary projects. “We bond because it’s our responsibility to take care of public property like water projects, local roads and bridges, and state-owned buildings. The people of Minnesota expect our assets to be well cared for but also expect their tax dollars to be used wisely. Republicans take infrastructure very seriously and it’s my hope Democrats do as well and attend this committee meeting,” said Franson.

During this first meeting, one agenda item is a nonpartisan committee walkthrough. The purpose of this walkthrough is for nonpartisan staff to give members important and relevant information about the committee. The nonpartisan staff are from the House Research and House Fiscal departments. Additionally, members will be highlighting their priorities for the session ahead.

Capital Investments will be meeting on Thursday, January 16th in G23 Capitol Hearing Room.

Representative Franson can be contacted by phone at 651-296-3201, email, or mail to 2802 Centennial Office Building St. Paul, MN 55155.
