St. Paul, MN - In response to issues that arose around the 2024 election in Scott County, Rep. Brad Tabke (DFL - Shakopee) authored House File 2474, providing clarity to the process of handling absentee ballots. The bill was heard today in the Elections Finance and Government Operations Committee, where it was passed unanimously to the General Register.
“I’m proud to carry this legislation to ensure what happened in Shakopee last November never happens again anywhere in Minnesota,” said Rep. Tabke. “Minnesota has an exemplary, accessible elections system, and we need to keep it that way. This bill will provide needed clarity so voters can continue to have high confidence that their vote is counted - whether they choose to vote in-person, early, or absentee.”
Rep. Tabke worked alongside Scott County, the Minnesota Secretary of State, and the Minnesota Association of County Officers to craft this legislation.
