ST. PAUL – State Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Acton Township, issued the following statement regarding Thursday’s report from Minnesota Management & Budget indicating that Minnesota has a $1.3 billion budget surplus projected for 2020-21:
“This is good news for the state as our economy continues to grow,” Urdahl said. “It also is a pretty clear signal that tax increases should be off the table for the 2020 session. In fact, we should be looking for ways to instead provide tax relief, such repealing the tax on health care that Democrats insisted on extending earlier this year. We also should be looking at fixing the Section 179 tax issue that has been a huge, costly problem of late for farmers and other business owners.”
