Dear Neighbor.
Hope your summer is going well. Just wanted to let you know the end of this week brings us to 60 days removed from the end of the 2024 session, at which point House members are prohibited from sending newsletters such as this until after the November election.
But, before we enter this blackout, I want to share with you a letter to the editor I submitted to the Star Tribune this week in response to the attempted assassination of Donald Trump. My submission includes some historical perspective and here’s an excerpt providing the gist of the important point I want to make:
"Politicians should know and understand that words do matter and that there are those people who take all their words as gospel. Both sides need to dial down the rhetoric. We should talk about the issues and the state of our country. There is plenty there to decide our nation's future without dangerous personal attacks."
