Dear Neighbor,
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to you from the Urdahl family. I hope this holiday season brings renewed optimism as we say goodbye to the infamous 2020 once and for all and welcome 2021 with hopes for health and prosperity.
The Legislature is in the process of preparing for the 2021 legislative session to begin Jan. 5. This includes establishing new committee rosters and I am pleased to have accepted an appointment to continue serving as the lead Republican on the House’s Capital Investment Committee.
I welcome the challenges that come with this position. My main responsibility is to help develop a bill that can achieve requisite support from a three-fifths super majority in the Legislature and I am proud of what we have achieved in that regard. I look forward to working with the new committee to address the state’s ongoing infrastructure needs.
Economic uncertainty remains a major factor for the upcoming session, so it will be crucial to find that balance of funding necessary infrastructure projects while remaining good stewards of taxpayer dollars. Asset preservation and supporting infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges remain my top capital investment priorities.
Look for a closer look at the issues we face as the new session arrives and, for now, please have a safe merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
Sincerely,
Dean
