Leader Hortman Statement on Republican Tax Bill
SAINT PAUL – Today, House Republicans had a press conference about their tax bill, which hasn’t yet been shared publicly or with Democrats.
House DFL Leader Melissa Hortman released the following statement:
“Too many Minnesotans are working hard without getting ahead. They are faced with a lack of economic opportunity to build a better future for themselves and their families. Meanwhile, the rich, powerful, and well-connected continue to do better, while most Minnesotans don’t. This needs to change, and unfortunately the Republican tax bill likely won’t do that.
“I hope instead we can come together around a tax proposal that puts Minnesotans first, instead of Republican corporate donors. A better song for the Republican tax proposal would be, “Promises, Promises,” because they are breaking their own promises to working families and the middle class.”
