(MMB) released the 2017 November Budget and Economic Forecast. Projections show a deficit of $188 million for the current biennium ($302 million once the full budget is passed), and a projected negative balance of $586 million for the 2020-21 biennium.
House DFL Leader Melissa Hortman released the following statement:
“For the last several months, Minnesota’s Republican leaders have refused to walk back their massive tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, and Minnesotans will be left paying the bill. At the same time, Federal Republicans have cut $178 million in health care for Minnesota children, leaving Minnesotans on the hook.
“These irresponsible and shortsighted special interest tax giveaways, combined with Republicans at the Federal level shifting expenses to Minnesotans, have left us with a deficit. Minnesotans deserve better.”
