St. Paul, Minnesota — Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman has appointed Representative Andrew Carlson (DFL - Bloomington) to serve as the chair of the House Property and Local Tax Division. The previous chair was Rep. Diane Loeffler, who passed away in November.
“Representative Carlson is an outstanding legislator and he will do an excellent job as chair of the House Property and Local Tax Division,” said Speaker Hortman. “I appreciate Representative Carlson stepping into this role. He will be a strong partner for our Tax Chair, Representative Paul Marquart. The Minnesota House DFL team will continue our work to make Minnesota’s tax system more fair for everyone.”
“The honor of being selected as chair of the House Property and Local Tax Division is bittersweet because the Legislature is still feeling a tremendous loss after the sudden passing of our colleague and friend Diane Loeffler,” said Rep. Carlson. “I promise to fulfill my new responsibility in a way that honors Diane's years of public service and continues the committee's strong partnership with local units of government.”
Rep. Carlson was first elected in 2016 and is currently serving his second term.
