St. Paul, Minnesota — The 92nd Minnesota Legislature was officially sworn in today, with DFLers in control of the Minnesota House of Representatives with a 70-64 majority. Representative Melissa Hortman (DFL - Brooklyn Park) was elected Speaker of the House.
“Democrats in the majority in the Minnesota House of Representatives continue to be focused on the things Minnesotans value: recovering and rebuilding from COVID, and ensuring Minnesotans have affordable health care, great educational opportunities from pre-school through job training, and economic security,” said Speaker Hortman. “We need to help Minnesotans get through this pandemic and thrive after it, and this session gives us the opportunity to respond to their needs. Our goal is to build a Minnesota that works better for everyone.”
“House Democrats will keep fighting for Minnesota’s workers and families all the way through to the end of this session,” said Majority Leader Ryan Winkler. “Addressing the economic harm and human suffering caused by a global pandemic remains front and center. This Legislature can choose to support the working families who have been hardest hit by the pandemic, or we can prioritize corporations, the rich, and the well-connected.”
