St. Paul, Minnesota — Today, Governor Walz adjusted Minnesota’s COVID-19 mitigation measures, easing restrictions on gatherings, small businesses, and large venues. Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman and Majority Leader Ryan Winkler released the following statements:
“Every day, we have more and more reasons to be hopeful and optimistic that we are nearing the end of this pandemic,” said Speaker Hortman. “The continuing spread of variants remains a concern, and we need Minnesotans to continue to follow public health guidelines to keep each other safe and ensure this pandemic ends. I’m grateful to Minnesotans who have heeded guidance from Governor Walz and our health professionals — their actions over the last year have saved countless lives and put us in a position to quickly recover and rebuild from COVID-19.”
“Minnesota is entering a new, brighter phase of this pandemic where vaccinations are ahead of schedule, Congress is putting families ahead of big, profitable corporations, and students are safely learning back in the classroom,” said Majority Leader Ryan Winkler. “Our nation is on the cusp of defeating this virus and our economy is poised to bounce back stronger than ever thanks to new Democratic leadership in Washington, DC and DFL leadership in Minnesota. Democrats in Congress and President Biden are delivering for the American people, and we’re fortunate to have a Governor and House DFL Majority that have followed the science and listened to public health experts from day one, instead of relying on conspiracy theorists and armchair experts.”
