ST. PAUL – State Rep. Joe McDonald, R-Delano, issued the following statement regarding Thursday’s report from Minnesota Management & Budget indicating that Minnesota has a $1.3 billion budget surplus projected for 2020-21:
“This just highlights the fact Minnesotans are overtaxed and that tax relief should be a main priority for the 2020 session,” McDonald said. “Maybe we could start by using the over-collection of taxes to fully repeal the tax on health care liberals insisted on extending last session. In any case, this had better not turn into a contest to see how many ways government can spend another $1.3 billion in taxpayer money. And the words ‘gas tax increase’ should not even be mentioned.”
