Rep. Joe McDonald Named 2025 Legislator of Distinction by League of Minnesota Cities

ST. PAUL, MN — The League of Minnesota Cities has recognized Rep. Joe McDonald (R–Delano) as a 2025 Legislator of Distinction for his work during the 2025 legislative session to support local government and elevate local voices at the Capitol.

Rep. McDonald was honored for his accessibility, collaboration, and consistent efforts to promote local decision-making. As a member of the House Elections Finance and Government Operations Committee, McDonald regularly engaged with League staff, listened to the concerns of city officials, and advocated for policies that empower local communities to make decisions that best reflect their unique needs.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and humbled to receive this honor from the League of Minnesota Cities,” said McDonald. “At the end of the day, it’s about working together to strengthen the communities we all call home—whether that’s Delano, Rockford, or any of the incredible cities across Minnesota. I’ve always believed that the best solutions come from the ground up, and I’m proud to stand with our local leaders every step of the way.”

The Legislator of Distinction award is approved annually by the League’s Board of Directors and recognizes lawmakers who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to building strong state-local partnerships.
