Dear Neighbor,
Good day from Delano, where we do the Fourth of July like nobody else in Minnesota.
If you’re from here, you know what I’m talking about. If you aren’t, I encourage you to come join us this weekend to experience the festivities. It’s a fantastic display of patriotism, especially during our parade (which starts at 10:30 a.m). I will be serving Lions Club duty and announcing the floats alongside the famous Terri Traen (we'll say your name louder if you throw us some extra candy!). There also is a great Fourth of July parade in Annandale at 10 a.m.
I also encourage people to take a moment this weekend to pause and reflect on how fortunate we are to have been born in this great nation. Think about the amazing accomplishments we’ve made in some 238 years. We are abundantly blessed by our Creator to enjoy the freedoms and liberties we sometimes take for granted.
The men and women of our armed forces also deserve a tip of the cap. Let’s thank a veteran for having made enormous sacrifices.
We also must thank those who will punch a clock on the Fourth so we can fill our gas tanks, buy a burger, grab a pint, etc. Your dedication in supporting yourself, your family and keeping our nation strong is greatly appreciated.
Stay safe, enjoy the fireworks and we’ll be back another time with news from the Capitol. If you missed it, a key court decision Monday in Illinois could have significant impacts regarding the push in Minnesota to unionize childcare providers. I’ll get back with the details after things unfold.
Regards,
Joe
