Friends,
First, I wanted to send my thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected by the flash floods today. Please stay safe and follow the directions of local law enforcement and other emergency personnel during this time.
Second, I wanted to ensure all that the proper authorities have been alerted to our community's plight. The Red Cross across Minnesota has mobilized and will be of assistance and my office has been in contact with the proper people in the Governor's Administration. We will continue to monitor and assistance will be provided.
The Red Cross of southeastern Minnesota's phone number is 507-287-2200 if you have been impacted by the rain and flash floods, including if sewers have backed up into your home. If there is an emergency please call 911.
In the meantime, please stay off of any roads with standing water on them or that have been compromised by the flash floods. Stay away from any downed powerlines (I'm not aware of any but whenever there is this much rain in a short amount of time the ground could be compromised). And if you encounter an emergency call 911.
Please contact my office anytime by calling (651) 296-9236, or share your thoughts via email by emailing me at rep.duane.quam@house.mn
Stay safe,
Duane
