STATEMENT FROM REP. O’NEILL ON SIGNING OF MARITAL RAPE LOOPHOLE REPEAL

ST. PAUL – Representative Marion O’Neill, R-Maple Lake, attended the ceremonial bill signing of HF 15 Thursday, which repeals the loophole barring prosecution in cases of marital rape. Representative O’Neill has been a supporter of the bill since its introduction, and has been a leader on issues of domestic violence since her election in 2012. HF 15 passed both the House and Senate unanimously.

“As a longtime advocate for women, I’m incredibly glad to see this bill signed into law,” said O’Neill. “Throughout my years as a legislator, I have worked on issues of domestic violence and sexual assault, and I’m proud to support this important bill and to see this important step forward become law.”
