St. Paul, MN—Representative Josh Heintzeman, R-Nisswa, issued the following statement regarding today’s announcement that campgrounds can reopen on June 1st. House Republicans sent a letter to Governor Walz in late April, urging him to reopen campgrounds and RV resorts. A copy of that letter can be found here.
“While it is disappointing that they will be forced to remain closed through Memorial Day weekend, I am nevertheless pleased to that campgrounds around the state will be able to open on June 1st,” said Rep. Heintzeman. “The tourism industry is critical to the economic well being of communities across Minnesota. Many of these family-owned businesses have been hanging on by a thread and thankfully relief will be coming soon. I encourage everyone to go camping this summer to support these small businesses and have no doubt that these families will reopen in a way that protects the health and safety of their customers.”
