ST. PAUL — Rep. Josh Heintzeman, R-Nisswa, issued the following statement ahead of today's news conference where Gov. Walz is set to "celebrate" the implementation of the California Car Standard, which brings an expensive California mandate to Minnesota and is expected to raise the cost of all cars in Minnesota by $1,000 or more. The rule requires dealerships to stock electric vehicles, even if there is zero consumer demand.
"As inflation surges across the country thanks to Democrat policies, Gov. Walz is celebrating an expensive new California mandate that will raise the price of all cars by $1,000 or more. Simple economics dictates that if consumers want electric vehicles, dealers will stock them. Instead of letting the market work, Gov. Walz is making cars more expensive for all Minnesotans by bringing California mandates here to Minnesota."
