Dear Neighbors,
State Budget
This week, the House passed many of our joint budget proposals with the Senate. I was proud to vote for $1.1 billion in tax relief, $2 billion of new transportation funding, and legislation to save taxpayers money in the state budget. One of my favorite parts of this process is searching for ways to lessen the burden on hardworking taxpayers. While we were debating our state government finance compromise, I again spoke on the importance of looking for savings in our state budget. If we have services or technology that aren’t needed, we shouldn’t keep them around as a courtesy. Taxpayers deserve better.
Student Visit
There were lots of Clearwater Middle School students at the Capitol yesterday. I knew they were coming but as I was walking up the main steps I had a bunch of kids calling out my name, we had a great time to talk about the Capitol and then I headed off to the chamber. It’s awesome to see groups of students on field trips who are so interested in learning about state government. I love when we have students at the Capitol!
Happy Mother’s Day
When I think about Mother’s Day, my mind goes to my own mom, and my wife Kim; both of whom are incredible examples for their children. This weekend, please take a second to say thanks to an important mom in your life for all they’ve done.
