Legislative Update![]() On Tuesday January 14, I was one of 67 republicans to be sworn into office. As State Government Finance and Policy Committee Chairman and House Majority Whip, I plan to introduce legislation within the first few weeks of the legislative session aimed at enhancing legislative oversight of state agency accountability. House Updates While the Democrats have chosen not to show up for legislative sessions and committee meetings, abandoning their responsibilities to the people of Minnesota, myself and the other House Republicans remain dedicated to the work at hand. We are here every day, advancing policies that prioritize the needs of Minnesotans and ensuring that their voices are represented in the decision-making process. Unfortunately, instead of working with us to ensure the best outcomes for Minnesota families, the Democrats have made it clear that they’re unwilling to cooperate with the newly formed Republican majority. They’ve decided to refuse to participate in the legislative process, despite still collecting their paychecks. I was at the Capitol on the 14th for swearing in ceremonies and was proud to be there on behalf of my constituents. I will always be at the Capitol when we are in session and be available to you. My job is in St. Paul at the Capitol. Those who don’t want to do their job by not showing up are taking away the voices of their constituents. Budget Update Click here to watch this video update about the Governor’s newly proposed budget. While the proposal includes tens of millions in new spending, it seems to overlook our constitutional obligation to balance the budget. I’m focused on holding the line and making sure we address this deficit responsibly. ![]() |
