Rep. Jim Nash Introduces House File 3
Saint Paul, MN -
In a groundbreaking move to increase accountability and protect taxpayer dollars, House Republicans have introduced a series of bills aimed at curbing fraud, waste, and abuse in state programs. House File 3, authored by Representative Jim Nash, (R-Waconia), received its first committee hearing on February 11th in the State Government Finance and Policy Committee.
House File 3 creates an innovative tool designed to evaluate the risk of fraud in proposed legislation. Using reports from the OLA, these assessments would give lawmakers insight into potential fraud vulnerabilities before implementing new programs or policies.
“We must make waste, fraud, and abuse less rampant in our state," said Nash. "We need to hold agencies accountable and protect the wallets of Minnesotans. That’s why HF3 will ensure that every new initiative is thoroughly examined for fraud and inefficiencies.”
During the hearing, Chair Nash emphasized the urgency of addressing systemic vulnerabilities in state programs. House File 3 now heads to the Ways and Means Committee for what is likely to be its final committee stop before being sent to the House Floor for approval from the body.
