Legislative Update

Happy Valentines Day!

It has been a busy week here at the Capitol. Committees officially started on Monday and many of the House Republicans top bills had hearings this week.

This week House Republicans introduced a series of bills aimed at curbing fraud, waste, and abuse in state programs. I introduced House File 3. Which had a hearing on Tuesday in the State Government Finance and Policy Committee.

House File 3 creates an innovative tool designed to evaluate the risk of fraud in proposed legislation. Using reports from the OLA, these assessments would give lawmakers insight into potential fraud vulnerabilities before implementing new programs or policies. House File 3 now heads to the Ways and Means Committee for what is likely to be its final committee stop before being sent to the House Floor for approval from the body.

Watch the HF 3 introduction below.

The guest of the week was a banker Todd Hann, who was here for community bankers day on the hill. It was great visiting and learning about what's important for our community banks.
