SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, Governor Tim Walz and Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan released their two-year proposed state budget. The plan contains strong investments in education, health care, and community prosperity.
State Rep. Jen Schultz (DFL – Duluth), chair of the House Long-Term Care Division, released the following statement:
“This budget serves as an excellent starting point to building a bright future for all Minnesotans, no matter where they may happen to live. We accomplish this through an excellent education for all learners, affordable, accessible health care, and other strategic investments to keep our communities strong, safe, and healthy. This isn’t easy work though, and Minnesota faces some significant challenges. I thank the Governor for highlighting some of these today including the many Minnesotans who experience homelessness, a shortage of care workers people with disabilities count on to live full lives, rising prices of prescription medications, budget challenges facing our schools, and other roadblocks to shared prosperity. I’m committed to working with the Governor, Lt. Governor and legislators to address these challenges this session.”
State Rep. Liz Olson (DFL – Duluth), House Majority Whip, released the following statement:
“Whether it be in our families, in our neighborhoods, in our schools or in our workplaces, Minnesotans care about one another, and we want to see one another succeed and thrive. At its core, this budget is deeply rooted in this value and looks ahead to how our state can continue to lead the way. Without strong investments in our schools, health care, public infrastructure, and other key areas critical to community prosperity, the quality of life for Minnesotans could slip. I look forward to working with Governor Walz and Lt. Governor Flanagan to make many of these proposed investments a reality.”
