SAINT PAUL, Minn. – The 2022 Minnesota Legislative Session convened Monday at the Minnesota State Capitol.
Rep. Liz Olson (DFL – Duluth), House Deputy Majority Leader, issued the following statement:
“Despite our recovering economy and sizable budget surplus, too many Minnesotans are still facing significant struggles as they seek the economic security they deserve. This legislative session, I’m hopeful we can take a good look at the difficulties Minnesotans are facing and deliver resources to help address them including a lack of affordable health care, educational challenges, a vast child care shortage, increased costs in people’s day to day lives, and more. This legislative session gives us an enormous opportunity to solve some pretty big problems and in doing so, help people, families, and communities succeed and thrive.”
Rep. Jen Schultz (DFL – Duluth), chair of the House Human Services Committee, issued the following statement:
“There are significant unmet needs in our state, and Minnesotans are counting on lawmakers to come together to address our most urgent issues while making long-term investments in our future. Resources for schools, expanded child care, investments to address the health care workforce crisis and affordable access to high-quality health care are all items we should prioritize this session, in addition to critical spending for our public infrastructure. All Minnesotans deserve economic security, and we can help Minnesotans get closer to reaching that reality through solutions like premium pay for front line workers and paid family and medical leave. By making meaningful investments using resources from our surplus, we have the opportunity this session to make the lives of all Minnesotans better.”
