SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman announced the appointment of Rep. Liz Olson (DFL – Duluth) to be the next chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means. The committee has broad jurisdiction over legislative matters related to the state budget and traditionally serves as the final committee stop before finance bills reach the House Floor.
“I am fully committed to ensuring our state budget reflects the values we all share, and the vision we want to realize where everyone in our state – no matter where they live – can have the opportunity to succeed and thrive,” Rep. Olson said. “Together, we can work to address the needs of Minnesotans and I am happy to do my part as the next chair of Ways and Means.”
Rep. Olson previously served as Vice Chair of the committee for the past four years.
The full committee structure and list of chairs are available. The complete committee roster will be announced in the coming weeks. The 2023 legislative session convenes in Saint Paul on January 3 at noon.
