SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Today, Governor Tim Walz announced the appointment of several new members to his cabinet, including incoming commissioners Willie Jett at the Department of Education, Bob Jacobson at the Department of Public Safety, Brooke Cunningham at the Department of Health, Nicole Blissenbach at the Department of Labor and Industry, Paul Marquart at the Department of Revenue, and Ida Rukavina at Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation.
Rep. Julie Sandstede (DFL – Hibbing) issued the following statement:
“Congratulations to each of the commissioners who received their appointments today. This is a solid group of dedicated public servants who will be called upon to make significant contributions in the direction of our state in several key issue areas. I want to wish each of them the best as they work with the Legislature to deliver the investments and results Minnesotans are counting on.
“I particularly want to congratulate Ida Rukavina on her appointment as commissioner of Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation. This is a unique agency with a unique mission, playing a critical role in developing a vision for our region’s future. IRRR and its board members must be equipped to navigate significant challenges while taking full advantage of opportunities for economic growth. I’m confident with Ida’s leadership and her ability to collaborate effectively, the Iron Range will be able to navigate struggles and experience the prosperity residents deserve.”
