New Executive Action on COVID-19

Tuesday, November 10, 2020

Rep. Huot

Dear Neighbors,

A heartfelt thank you to everyone in our Rosemount, Apple Valley, and Coates communities for entrusting me with another two years in the Minnesota House of Representatives. I’ll continue working for you and with you to keep our families safe and moving forward during these challenging times.

Information about the incoming Legislature will be available after all of the votes in Minnesota have been counted. The 2021-2022 Election Directory, which contains information about each member of the Minnesota House and Senate, will be updated here.

Executive Action on COVID-19

As hospitals express concern about critically low capacity to treat Minnesotans, Governor Walz today announced new safety restrictions aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID-19.

Beginning this Friday, restrictions will apply to social gatherings, celebrations and receptions, and bars and restaurants, which are three of the most significant sources of COVID-19 outbreaks across the state.

Coupled with today’s executive action, the Governor also announced $10 million in grant funding to provide financial support for our small businesses affected by the pandemic. Businesses that were wait-listed in the lottery grant application process this summer will have the first opportunity this time around. I will keep you posted on the new process as soon as it becomes available online.

Minnesota Passes Largest Jobs and Local Projects Bill in State History

I’m pleased to share that in October the Minnesota House and Senate passed a robust and regionally balanced Jobs & Local Projects and Critical Economic Development bill to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. The new law provides $13 million to the Minnesota Zoo for asset preservation and revitalization projects, including the repurposing of the former monorail track into a treetop trail. It also includes funding for the Rosemount Readiness Center. A full list of the projects included can be accessed here.

Veterans Day

Tomorrow we celebrate and honor the brave men and women who’ve served our country. No matter which branch they served in or where they were stationed, our veterans deserve to be recognized. However, it’s not enough to thank them once a year. We all have a responsibility to ensure that service members have opportunities to thrive and can return to supportive and caring communities once their missions are finished. I’m committed to continuing my work at the Legislature to advance more supports for veterans and their families.

The annual State of Minnesota Veterans Day event will be held virtually this year. Starting at 8 a.m. on Veterans Day tomorrow, you’ll be able to watch the program at MinnesotaVeteran.org/VeteransDay2020.
