Speaker of the House Melissa Hortman and Majority Leader Jamie Long released the following statements on the full budget proposal released by Governor Tim Walz:
“The Governor’s budget reflects the values of Minnesotans: we value great public schools, affordable health care, and an economy that works better for everyone. House DFLers share these goals and values. Our state is in a strong position to solve big challenges and address the needs of the people of Minnesota,” said Speaker Melissa Hortman. “I commend the Governor for proposing a bold budget with an inspirational vision for our future. I look forward to our continued partnership as we craft our budget and pass legislation to build a Minnesota that works better for everyone.”
“The House, Senate, and Gov. Walz are united, and this DFL state government trifecta is already working together to deliver for Minnesotans,” said House Majority Leader Jamie Long. “We all agree that our state budget is more than a fiscal document – it’s a moral document that should reflect the values Minnesotans share. We balanced the state budget twice in a time of divided government, but many of Minnesotans’ priorities were blocked by a Republican Senate. Voters sent a DFL team to Saint Paul because they were fed up with gridlock and division. Minnesotans have entrusted us to address their needs and deliver on their priorities, and that’s exactly what Gov. Walz, the Minnesota House, and Senate are doing.”
