Join us for two upcoming Town Halls in Minneapolis

Thursday, April 10, 2025

Dear neighbors,

It was inspiring to see so many Minnesotans come together at the “Hands Off” rallies this past weekend. Thousands of people from all walks of life came to the State Capitol to stand up against the dangerous ways in which President Trump and Elon Musk are hurting our economy, targeting critical public services, and undermining the rule of law. I’m inviting you to join me for two upcoming town hall meetings to keep building the energy we saw last weekend.

Senate District 61 Town Hall on April 30

I hope you will join Rep. Katie Jones, Sen. Scott Dibble, and me for a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m. The event will take place at the Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church (511 Groveland Ave) in the Carlson Hall. We look forward to giving a brief update about the legislative session, but most of the time will be devoted to listening to your stories and answering your questions.

The legislative session is approaching a pivotal stage, and while Republicans work to give more power to billionaires and large corporations, Democrats are fighting to give more power to Minnesotans. Join your neighbors to learn more about how we’re tackling this important work, together.

The actions coming out of Washington, D.C. are alarming and unacceptable—whether it’s slashing Medicaid to fund tax breaks for billionaires, weakening public education, imposing harmful tariffs, or firing thousands of federal workers with no warning. These policies are hurting real people in our communities and across Minnesota. We must respond—together.

Join me, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, and other members of the Minneapolis Legislative Delegation for another Town Hall on Monday, April 21 at 7 p.m. Click here to register and you’ll receive the location.

At the town hall, we’ll hear details about how the federal government’s decisions are directly impacting our state. More importantly, there will be an opportunity for community members to share concerns, ideas, and stories. Your voice matters, and we want to hear from you!

Quick note: we were originally planning to host our local Senate District Town Hall on April 21, but we postponed it to accommodate our larger Minneapolis gathering that night. I hope you can make it to one or both events!

Every single day, the chorus of voices pushing back against Donald Trump and his billionaire backers grows louder. Let’s come together on April 21 and April 30 to push back against attacks on our neighbors, our schools, our health care, and our shared future.

Sincerely,

Rep. Jamie Long
DFL Floor Leader, Minnesota House of Representatives
