St. Paul, MN– The Minnesota House of Representatives gave final approval on Monday to legislation that provides funding for a variety of projects around the state with a heavy emphasis on public infrastructure like clean water, wastewater treatment, roads, bridges, flood mitigation, and preservation of state-owned assets. State Representative Spencer Igo, R-Wabana Township, was able to secure funding for local projects in the bill.
“As lawmakers, we have a duty to take care of state-owned property and infrastructure, especially when it directly impacts the safety and wellbeing of Minnesotans,” said Igo. “For Bovey, Taconite, and Coleraine, rising water levels at Canisteo are a matter of life and death and I am beyond grateful that we were able to secure the funding needed to address this problem once and for all. Additionally, water and sewer infrastructure improvements in Floodwood and a training facility in Hibbing are other local projects of significance that will make our communities and region safer.”
Igo was also the lead sponsor of other provisions in the bill that will provide $16 million for reforestation projects around the state and improvements in Badoura State Forest Nursery.
The bill now heads to Governor Walz’s desk where it awaits his signature.
